Permission Roles: Admin vs Editor vs user

Explaining the differences between all the roles for users

User Permissions - View, filter, measure, and select — no editing 

User — View & Analyze
  • Feature Details – View feature info, history, and media attachments (read-only)
  • Results Window – View assets in a filterable table across one or multiple layers
  • Measuring Tool – Measure area, distance, location, and elevation
  • Select Tool – Individually select or lasso features, then view them in the Results window
  • GPS & Geolocation – Show device location on the map, or jump the map to current location

Editor - Everything a User can do, plus create/edit assets in map view 

Editor — Create & Edit Assets

Includes all User abilities, plus:

  • Feature Details – Add/edit field values (save with the green save button)
  • Links Tab – Link assets together (e.g., attach a work order to a feature)
  • Media Tab – Add photos, videos, PDFs, and documents to an asset
  • Reminder Bell – Set date/time reminders with email and text notifications
  • 3-Dot Menu (Feature Detail window):
    • Move a point or line
    • Split a line into multiple segments
    • Print feature details, media, and a location thumbnail
    • Change a feature's layer
  • Creating Features – Draw new points (click) or lines (click-drag, double-click to end), then fill out details

 Admin - Everything an Editor can do, plus manage map/layer settings and org-level dashboard controls 

Admin — Manage Map & Organization Settings

Includes all Editor abilities, plus:

  • Dashboard
    • Update org user settings (Account Settings)
    • Add new maps (+New Map button)
  • Toolbox
    • Import/Export – Import/export layers as CSV or SHP
    • Layer Visibility – Set default layers shown on login
    • Security – Set user permissions per map/layer (drag-and-drop to permission level, then save)
    • Events – Schedule recurring or annual notifications based on a field/value
    • Fields – Add/edit layer fields
    • Clone Layer – Duplicate a layer's fields, styles, permissions, and events; or clone it fully with data, history, attachments, and features included
