Import Layer

Quickly and easily bring data into iamGIS by importing a layer. The imported data can be used to create a new layer, replace an existing layer, or can be appended to an existing layer.

Shapefile

A shapefile is an Esri vector data storage format for storing the location, shape, and attributes of geographic features. It is stored as a set of related files.

Select SHP to import data using shapefiles. You can select the required files individually or compressed in a .zip file.

Import Types

New Layer
Drag in a .zip file, or include the required file extensions (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj).

Replace Layer
This lets you import new data and replace everything in an existing layer with it.

Note: All current data in the layer will be overwritten, so make sure this is what you want before clicking import.

Append to Layer
This adds imported data to an existing layer, increasing the number of assets in it.

Note: if the imported data overlaps with existing data, you may end up with duplicates — double-check before importing.

CSV

A CSV (comma separated values) file is a plain text file that contains a collection of data.

Select CSV to import data using a CSV file. The CSV file must contain a column named Location that contains the feature location in well-known text (WKT) or [if a Point location] one of the following alternate formats using WGS84 (EPSG:4326) projection.
